Covering the Launch of the Coventry Very Light Rail – 200 Years of Railway Innovation

Last month, I had the pleasure of photographing a remarkable milestone in UK transport history: the 200th anniversary of the railway, marked by the official launch of the Coventry Very Light Rail at BCIMO in Dudley.

The event celebrated two centuries of innovation in railway engineering, bringing together industry leaders, politicians, engineers, and members of the public. It also showcased the future of sustainable urban transport with Coventry’s pioneering light rail system.

As a professional event photographer, my role was to capture the energy, significance, and scale of the day — from keynote speeches and technology demonstrations to candid moments and crowd engagement.
