Working with Conservation Groups
I work with conservation charities, local ecology groups, councils and community projects to document their work and help them share it with the people who need to see it. With a background in marine and freshwater biology, zoology and many years as a qualified teacher, I approach conservation photography with a clear understanding of the science behind the work and how to communicate it to the public.
My aim is simple: to create images and short films that help organisations show what they do, why it matters and how it makes a difference.
What I can provide:
Photography for projects, habitats and species
Whether it is river restoration, canal maintenance, farmland habitat work or surveys, I can photograph the work in a way that explains your aims and captures the detail. This includes:
habitat management
monitoring and survey activity
volunteer days
species behaviour and identification
before and after records
project milestones
These images can be used for reports, websites, social media, grant applications and public engagement.
Short videos and visual explainers
Some projects benefit from simple, clear video content. I produce short films that work well for social media, visitor centres, school resources and project updates. These films can highlight:
what a project is trying to achieve
who is involved
progress over time
the species or habitats being supported
Education and outreach support
With my teaching background, I can help turn conservation work into accessible content for schools and communities. This can include:
photo-led resources for lessons or assemblies
simple explainers for habitats, species or processes
visual material for workshops and talks
clear writing to accompany imagery
This is particularly useful for organisations that want to connect their fieldwork with young people or the wider public.
How I work:
Local, repeatable and flexible
Based in Southam, I cover Warwickshire and the wider Midlands. This means I can revisit sites through the year, track seasonal progress and document projects at key stages without extensive travel.
Science-informed and accurate
My biology background means I understand ecological terminology, species identification, survey methods and the importance of ethical fieldwork. This helps ensure your work is represented accurately.
Collaborative, not intrusive
I aim to support your work, not interrupt it. Whether I am joining a volunteer day or covering a survey, I adapt to your schedule and the needs of your team.
Who I work with
I collaborate with:
conservation charities and trusts
river and canal groups
wildlife monitoring groups
local councils
schools and education teams
rewilding and habitat restoration projects
community groups running wildlife activity
If your organisation is involved in supporting nature, I can help document that work.
Start a conversation
If you have a project that would benefit from clear, honest visual storytelling, I would be happy to talk. You might need a small set of images for a report, a visual diary of a restoration project or a longer-term record over several seasons.
You can contact me through this website or by email. I am always happy to arrange a visit to understand what you need.
